The Journey
One page, one road, five stations: from an idea at 2 a.m. to customers at the door.
A business whose visitor does not yet know what they need, and has to be taken from the problem they arrived with to the thing that fixes it, in order.
Stop listing services. Describe the order in which they actually happen.
The whole thing is standing, every page of it, built on the same prices and the same mark as this site. It is marked on every screen as a direction rather than the live site, and the figures printed inside it are the ones published on the day it was built.
How it was built to look like itself.

The house family set at the size of an argument rather than a heading.
Bands cut into paper: a light page with dark sections set into it.
Each station arrives as you reach it and stays arrived, so scrolling back never finds an empty frame.
The road itself. A rail down the left with five stations on it, a line that fills to where you have read, and the page scrolling through them in order.
It invented the road, and the road is still the spine of this site. It is the only structure that survived every later direction unchanged.
A road only works if your services genuinely happen in an order. Impose one where there is none and the visitor feels handled rather than helped.
The structure outlives every skin. Get the order of the story right and you can redraw it fourteen times without losing the plot.
